The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PAPSA), which had been in place since 1992, prohibited states from authorizing sports betting schemes. However, the court overturned PAPSA, allowing more than 30 states to legalize sports betting. This development has not hurt the economy in Las Vegas, but rather, it has allowed it to grow alongside sports betting.

The fact that anyone anywhere in America can now place a sports bet on their phone has contributed to this growth. In an interview with Abarbanel, he explained that 'the more familiar people are with gambling on sports, the less worried they might be about pro sports teams being based in Las Vegas.' This theory suggests that as people become more comfortable with the idea of sports betting, they will be less concerned about professional sports teams calling Sin City home.

Las Vegas is now hosting the Super Bowl for the first time, a testament to how far the city has come. The event has been hailed as a major success, and it's clear that the city's reputation as Sin City is no longer a barrier to its growth. In fact, Abarbanel believes that the opportunity to host the Super Bowl was a surprise and seemed 'completely out of the question' until now.

The Tropicana Hotel, where James Bond once stayed, will soon be demolished to make way for a new stadium for the Oakland A's of Major League Baseball.
